Sponsorship

What is a Sponsor?

A sponsor is an organization, congregation, business or group which commits to fund a house and provide the labor needed to build the home.

Who can be a Sponsor?

Anyone can be a sponsor:

  • Churches and coalitions of churches
  • Businesses
  • Corporations
  • Schools
  • Service groups
  • Individual families

What if we can raise only part of the sponsoring amount?

Habitat will coordinate your organization's efforts with others to provide the funds and labor needed to build a house. If volunteers are needed for labor, Habitat will help to provide them from our dedicated volunteer base.

How many people does it take to construct a home? When does the work take place? How long will it last?

It generally takes 6-12 months and up to 250 people to complete a Habitat house.  Most construction takes places Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays, but we can work with you if other arrangements need to be made.

Why should my organization sponsor a home?

Thousands of families in our communitiy live in inadequate shelter. Your organization can do something about this reality. You will work side by side with the partner family on their home, other partner families and volunteers from other groups. The team building that happens as groups join together to help eliminate substandard housing is unequaled by any other experience.
