What is the Habitat ReStore?
The Habitat ReStore is an independently owned reuse store operated by Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa. We receive donations and sell home improvement items, furniture, home goods, and tools to the public at a fraction of the retail price.
Proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance and shelter in local communities and around the world — a good deal for you, your community, and the environment.
What are the hours at the Habitat ReStore?
The Habitat ReStore is open for shopping Tuesday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm and Saturday from 9:00am-4:00pm. Please call 641-423-1688 during business hours to make a donation appointment.
What kinds of donations does the ReStore accept?
The ReStore accepts Windows, Doors, Furniture, Kitchen Cabinets, Sinks,Toilets, Light Fixtures, Appliances, Paint/ Wood Stain/ Other materials, Carpet/ Flooring/ Crown Molding Water Heaters/ Furnaces/ Breaker Boxes among other things.
What will you find at the ReStore?
The ReStore accepts donations from the public. Individuals and businesses provide all of the inventory at the ReStore and our inventory changes daily. We do a significant amount of research on all items before pricing and price items at 50% to 75% off retail prices!
Shop often – new items arrive frequently and you never know what you may find!
Where does the money from the ReStore go?
The Habitat ReStore sells donated items to the general public. We do our best to provide great deals for our customers while also raising funds to fulfill the Habitat mission to provide safe and affordable housing to local residents in need.
How are items at the ReStore priced?
The ReStore staff does a lot of research when pricing the merchandise. It certainly isn’t an exact science, and we do continually mark things down until they sell. Our product is based on local donations and changes daily – sometimes hourly! Watch for storewide sales and our new Red Tag Sale to score an even bigger deal! All inventory is 50 to 75% off retail prices!
Is my donation tax-deductible?
YES! Donors benefit by avoiding landfill fees and by receiving a tax deduction on contributions. Receipts are provided. In addition to raising funds for Habitat for Humanity, the ReStore helps the environment by diverting tons of reusable building materials away from area landfills.
