Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa will be hosting their 4th annual fundraiser “Hammers and Heels” Fashion Show at Music Man Square on Thursday, May 2. This show will feature dresses made from construction materials by area businesses and modeled as part of a “New York Fashion Week” runway style show. A celebrity panel of judges will be giving awards, and the audience will be voting for their favorite dress by donations in the “People’s Choice Award”.
The event will also feature a silent auction during the pre-show gathering, and a live auction after the show starts. Experiences to be auctioned include a trip to Wine Country with a stay at the Lodge at Sonoma Resort with wine tastings, several dinner party packages, jewelry, and a homemade pie every month for a year. Silent auction items include Harley Davidson clothing, family get-a-ways, and various gift baskets.
Businesses who will be presenting design entries at the show will be Diamond Jo Casino, Crown Point Builders, MBT Bank, Atura Architecture, Paint Me Gourmet, Dean Snyder Construction, Clear Lake Bank and Trust, First Citizens Bank, Overhead Door Company of Mason City, and Habitat for Humanity NCI. Each of these unique designs will be made from more than 50% construction material. Wire, fencing, house wrap, duct tape, hardware, and landscape materials are among the expected design components.
Tickets are $50 pre-purchased or $60 at the door and are available at the Habitat ReStore and online at habitatnci.org until Thursday noon, then at the doors on Thursday night. A pre-party will begin at 5:00pm with hors d’oeuvres sponsored by the 1910 Grille’ and Hy-Vee East, as well as beverages and food vendors: Taste, Mr. Taco, and Ritz Rings & Things. The show is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm. This event is being hosted by Habitat for Humanity and the Diamond Sponsors are Alpha Media, Century 21, and MBT Bank.
